The Street Towards The European School Of 2020

1ST PRIORITY: EARLY SCHOOL DROPOUT

Nowadays about the 12% of students early leaves school. The goal is to reduce within 2020 the percentage of the early leavers.

2ND PRIORITY: IMPROVE THE ACHIEVEMENT OF BASIC COMPETENCIES FOR STUDENTS

All students have acquired basic competencies needed for their personal and professional training (reading ability, maths, scientific and digital abilities). The goal for 2020 is that less of 15% of young people of 15 years old has gaps in reading, maths and science. The goal will be achieved only modernizing school curricula, didactic resources and subsidies and favouring the evaluation and the recognition of competencies.

3RD PRIORITY: STRENGTHEN THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION AND OF THE CARE OF THE EARLY CHILDHOOD

Each child should  benefit since the pre-school age of a quality teaching included migrant children. The pre-school education should be the most possible accessible. The goal for 2020: at least the 95% of children with an age between 4 years and the pre-school age would have the access to educational opportunities for the early childhood.

4TH PRIORITY: ENCOURAGING THE CREATIVITY, THE INNOVATION, THE ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT AT ALL TRAINING AND EDUCATION LEVELS

The innovation and the creativity are factors determining the creation of enterprises and the Europe capacities to face challenges of the international competition and the sustainable development. The stakes consists in guarantee that all citizen are able to acquire fundamental transversal competencies: in particular “learning to learn” and develop communication capacities, the initiative spirit and the entrepreneurial spirit, digital competencies (included the media literacy), the awareness on  cultural themes and to the expression. These competences and the use of new technologies should be taken into consideration in the programmes, in the pedagogical methods and in the qualifications. Furthermore an enhanced cooperation between schools and enterprises will allow to stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit of students and researchers.

5TH PRIORITY: MAKE POSSIBLE THAT THE EDUCATION AND THE PERMANENT TRAINING AND THE STUDENTS MOBILITY BECOMES A REALITY

The international mobility of students represents an essential aspect of the education and the permanent training and of the strengthening of the employability and the adaptability of people. A series of studies on European programmes demonstrates that the mobility breaks down the barriers between men and the categories, further realizes the advantages of the European citizenship and makes workers more suitable  to the mobility at the entrance moment in their active life. The students mobility should become the rule and no more the exception as now and this goal can be achieved only thanks to a new engagement of all the protagonists.

6TH PRIORITY: IMPROVE THE PROFESSIONALISM IN THE TEACHING

The quality of teachers, trainers and of the all personnel in the education sector is the determining element within the school system to guarantee good results of students. It will be necessary to be concentrated on the fundamental elements of the initial training of teachers and try to enlarge the range and increase the quality of the possibilities of continuous professional development of teachers, trainers and personnel.
